ECO ENTERTAINMENT

Joseph’s vision for making sustainability fun and making the cultural industries greener in the UK influenced thousands of practitioners, academics and engaged citizens worldwide. From building the first eco club in the UK, to shaping the largest festival for sustainability in the world and devising campaigns that involved hundreds of international organisations Joe became an advocate of change. He has won multiple awards for his work in the field, and has contributed to global policies, standards and guidelines on the subject.

Shanghai fashion week

Joseph was the Director of Shanghai Fashion Week Closing Ceremony. The theme was E Fashion - Beauty of Change, and was the first time ethical fashion was publicly endorsed by the Chinese government. The event also saw the Chinese launch of Lexus' new electric car the CT200h. With 800 tastemaker guests from across the cultural elite of China, the event marked the advent of China's position in the global calendar for fashion weeks and a sign of the shifting times

sustainable Studios

Joseph co-founded Europe’s largest co-working studio complex for creative and environmentally-minded entrepreneurs. The huge building next to London's financial district in Liverpool Street hosted thousands of visitors over two hundred businesses and daily events, ranging from movie shoots to ministerial campaign launches. A permaculture roof garden was built on the top, with fifty types of edible plants, hives for honey bees, and was utilised for Olympic research on how green roofs adapt in urban environments.

Eco Club

The The Black Lotus Karate Club was at the time (what time) the largest club in Shoreditch, East London, and operated for over a year with a capacity of 2,000 people. It attracted the coolest trend-setters in London, and was host to the likes of Q-Tip, Hot Chip and Giles Peterson. The club was entirely run on renewable energy, built using reclaimed materials, and was the first club to achieve a 95% recycling rate, making it one of the most sustainable entertainment venues in the UK.
